About Corinth ...
Complemented with a peaceful and natural landscape, Corinth, Mississippi is nestled in the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Corinth and Alcorn County’s quality of life is unmatched. Whatever your age or interests, Alcorn County is diverse in recreational and cultural pursuits. Corinth is a city of contrasts. We attract people from all walks of life for our history, tradition, community spirit, downtown charm, and hospitality.
Corinth began in 1854 as Cross City. Its proxomoty to the Tennessee River and the railroads made it of great strategic value during the Civil War. The Battle of Corinth was fought October 3-4, 1862. With the railroads, Corinth played a huge role in the Battle of Shiloh, which was a turning point in the war.
