In the world of Chevy SUVs, you know the Blazer as the sporty SUV loaded with perks to write home about. First reintroduced for 2019, the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer has outclassed many of its competitors. In true Chevy fashion, the Blazer has become safer, more stylish, more innovative with each generation, all while retaining its affordability. Style and substance define this year’s Blazer, an SUV known for its dance between boldness and agility. But what makes this year’s Blazer all that it is? Let’s take a look.

Under the Hood

Though Chevy previously released an SUV under the same name, that old Blazer is not to be confused with the evolved powerhouse that the 2020 Blazer has become. The 2020 Blazer proves a worthy competitor for the likes of Nissan Murano, Honda Passport, and the Ford Edge, its closest rivals. Though suburban speed bumps prove a notable challenge for many SUVs, the Blazer takes them with ease, thanks to all of the thoughtful engineering tucked under the hood.

The 2020 Chevy Blazer comes with a standard 193-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine at its base level, a 227-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine on the mid trims, and the option of a 308-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine. All three engines are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the turbo-four and the V-6 engines feature optional all-wheel-drive. Not sure which one you need? The four-cylinder options are great for efficient daily driving. The V-6 engine, however, delivers quick acceleration and increased confidence with passing others on the highway.

You’ll find some major changes compared to the 2019 Blazer. A 2.5-liter engine comes standard on the L and LT trim levels, rendering them front-wheel-drive only. The 2LT and 3LT offer a standard turbo four-cylinder engine, with a V-6 engine and all-wheel-drive available as options. The RS and Premier trim levels feature standard all-wheel-drive and a standard V-6 engine. The combined V-6 engine and all-wheel-drive offer 4,500 lbs of towing power, and the front-wheel-drive and four-cylinder trim levels offer 1,500 lbs of towing power. Overall, you’ll find that steadiness and smooth steering define all trim levels, as well as responsive turning (particularly on the RS trim level, which has improved steering and suspension tuning).

Interior and Technology

Not only is the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer your go-to downtown vehicle, but you’ll find more than a hint of the Chevy Camaro’s style and inspiration in this midsize SUV. The 2020 Blazer features redesigned trim levels many innovative standard and optional features. The 2020 Blazer has two rows of comfortable seats and automatic climate control with air vents placed under the center stack that can be turned to adjust the temperature. The interior offers a two-tone color scheme, with upper trim levels featuring leather and more upscale material. Heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and ambient lighting are major highlights within the cabin.

Are you looking forward to your next adventure? The 2020 Blazer offers lots of room for all of your gear. There are nearly 31 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and over 64 cubic feet when the seats are folded. You’ll find lots of open space, along with nooks and crannies, for everything large and small. In the 2020 Blazer, there’s plenty of storage space for smaller items, such as front-door panel ledges, a spacious cubby in front of the center console, and a good-sized bin. The interior also includes a map slot on the passenger side, an electronic-locking glove box, and soft points on seats for elbows to rest. Rear passengers are granted plenty of space, climate control, a bin behind the center console and door pockets, and sliding and reclining seats.

Not only is the 2020 Chevy Blazer generous with storage, but every 2020 Blazer trim level features an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The 2020 Chevy Blazer’s infotainment interface features clear icons and an intuitive interface. The front and back of the center console contain a pair of USB ports as a standard feature. Certain models also offer a 120-volt outlet. A 4G LTE mobile hotspot is available, along with an eight-speaker Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, and built-in navigation. The optional 360-degree camera system makes parking a breeze, removing ambiguity and the potential for accidents when parking. This feature, available on the 3LT and higher trims, is also useful for connecting a trailer.

The L trim level comes with cloth upholstery, an 8-inch infotainment touch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, and a 6-speaker audio system. The LT trim level goes further, adding satellite radio and an 8-way power driver seat to the mix. In the middle of the pack, the 3LT trim level offers perforated-leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, a 6-way-power front-passenger seat, and remote start. The sporty RS trim level features an 8-inch configurable driver-information display and navigation. Finally, the Premier trim level includes heated and ventilated front seats, driver-side memory settings, a heated steering wheel, a power-adjustable steering column, ambient interior lighting, and a Bose 8-speaker audio system.

Are you looking for a travel partner? You’re never alone for any journey, long or short. The 2020 Chevy Blazer features Amazon Alexa built-in so that you can stream your favorite music on those long road trips. You can also stock up on essentials through your Amazon shopping list and connect to your smart home devices while you’re out. Whatever your plans, Chevy and Alexa have you covered!

A Sporty Exterior

The 2020 Chevy Blazer’s sleek design gives off sporty Camaro vibes while still being a roomy and practical family vehicle. The front end features standard LED running lights, while higher trims have full-LED lighting for excellent vision at night. The L trim level comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and heated side mirrors, while the LT trim level also includes deep-tinted glass. The 3LT trim improves convenience, with a programmable power tailgate and advanced driver aids. On the RS trim level, you will find 20-inch alloy wheels, a gesture-controlled tailgate, dark accents, and updated exhaust outlets. Finally, the Premier trim level adds chrome accents and 20-inch wheels for added style. No matter the trim, the 2020 Blazer guarantees that you’ll be riding in style.
