As a Chevy dealer near Baldwyn, we can’t help but notice the increase we’ve seen in families looking for a Chevy that’s perfect for everyone. From Mom, Dad, and the older kids to Grammie, Grandpop, and the tiniest tots, folks are looking for a vehicle that makes sense for all their passengers.

Since the 2024 Chevy Traverse has been completely updated from the pavement to the roof racks, it’s a good time to take a long look at this eight-seater. For many families in Baldwyn, having a reliable vehicle with seats for everyone is important. There’s school, work, and church, but what about weekend trips to Tupelo or summer adventures in the Holly Springs National Forest? Drivers have spoken, and Chevy has listened. Families are looking for a safe vehicle with plenty of room that doesn’t feel too big and can handle all sorts of voyages. Take a look at some reasons why we think the all-new 2024 Traverse is just the ticket for drivers in Baldwyn and beyond.

Re-Introducing the Chevy Traverse

The 2024 Chevy Traverse marks the start of the third generation of this midsize three-row SUV. Having made its official debut in 2008 at the Chicago Auto Show, the Traverse isn’t a new concept, but the 2024 version is a step in a new direction for Chevy and midsize SUVs.

In the 2024 Traverse’s press release, Phil Zak, executive design director of Global Chevrolet, stated, “The bold exterior of the all-new Traverse helps redefine its role and capability for customers. It is as versatile as ever, but with an increased focus on capability that reflects the spirit of its owners.” This combination of versatility and capability is reflected in every aspect of the new Traverse.

While the Traverse is advertised as a three-row SUV, the second and third rows can be configured in various ways to make the space ideal for every family. The LS trim includes second and third-row bench seats for a total of eight seats. The second-row bench seat is optional on the LT trim. Those who select models with second-row captain’s chairs can enjoy SmartSlide technology, which allows passengers safe and clear access to the third-row seats, even when a child safety seat is installed in the second row. The top RS trim includes one-touch folding second-row seats and power-folding third-row seats, allowing drivers to switch from passengers to cargo and back quickly and easily.

Speaking of cargo, the 2024 Traverse offers a best-in-class maximum cargo capacity of 97.6 cu.ft. The available AutoSense Power Liftgate can sense your presence and open gently without using your hands or feet. The new Traverse can also tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped with Chevy’s Trailering Package.

Regarding performance, the Traverse has a newly engineered 2.5L turbocharged engine. According to Chevy, this powerhouse supplies 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty of power for adventures of any length. All-wheel drive is available, though the all-new Z71 trims have an off-road-ready twin-clutch all-wheel drive system. More on that in a moment.

What’s New

Nearly every aspect of the 2024 Traverse has been updated to make it an ideal ride for family adventures of all sizes. The Z71 trim is a brand-new addition to the Traverse lineup, and the RS trim has received a full refresh.

The exterior of each trim has been updated to give it a unique appearance, including unique grilles, chrome features, and badging. The front and rear lighting has been updated to standard LED across the trims, along with walk-up lighting animation on the RS trim. The interior has also been redesigned with a 17.7-inch color touchscreen taking center stage and an 11-inch customizable driver information display conveniently located just a glance away. A pass-through console design provides plenty of storage yet can be moved out of the way for greater access between all seats and a more open cabin feel.

Chevy has also expanded the number of driver assistance features to provide greater peace of mind. The standard Chevy Safety Assist package includes Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency braking and Following Distance Indicator with Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam High Beam Assist. These features are still standard on all trims, but Chevy has added Rear Park Assist, an HD Rear Vision Camera along with Rear Cross Traffic Braking including rear Pedestrian Alert and Reverse Automatic Braking, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert and Blind Zone Steering Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The addition of standard HD Surround Vision cameras also adds features like Speed Limit Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, and Side Bicyclist Alert.

Inside the cabin, features like a vibrating Safety Alert Seat and Buckle to Drive, which requires front and front passenger seatbelts to be buckled before driving, can help keep drivers of all ages and experience levels aware of safety issues. The Teen Driver settings via the MyChevy app can help monitor speed, seatbelt use, and volume control from afar, too.

Trims and Updates

Perhaps one of the most exciting updates to the 2024 Traverse lineup is the addition of a new trim and the full refresh of an existing model. The Z71 and a redesigned RS trim join the well-equipped LT and LS trims.

The Traverse Z71 is a brand-new option, providing a more rugged approach to adventure without losing its family-friendly charm. The Z71 adds an inch to the Traverse’s ground clearance and a wider track. This provides extra stability not only when exploring rugged areas but when navigating muddy, slippery, or gravel roads as well. It’s also designed with a custom twin-clutch all-wheel drive system that increases the Traverse’s nimble steering and responsive traction control. All-terrain tires and exclusive Z71 wheels help you glide around town during the spring pothole season. The Z71 also includes skid plates, signature red tow hooks, and a standard Trailering Package. A selectable Terrain Mode gauges wheel slip and provides torque exactly where it’s needed, while Z71-specific dampers with hydraulic rebound control allow drivers to take the road one bump at a time.

The newly remodeled RS trim retains the sporty and sophisticated look it’s known for and adds a few upgrades. Outside, drivers will notice the blackout color theme in the grille, roof rails, and high-gloss aluminum wheels. Inside, Jet Black leather upholstery and red RS accents keep the excitement going. In addition to looking sleek and suave, the RS trim is exceptionally well-equipped with features like standard trailering gear, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a premium Bose audio system, and standard SuperCruise hands-free driver assistance.

Ideal for Passengers of All Ages

The 2024 Chevy Traverse has been updated in hopes of providing a vehicle that is ideal for a broader range of drivers. Regardless of your family’s size, there’s a Traverse with just the right combination of seats and storage space for you. Whether you’ve been meaning to get a vehicle that you can take camping, hiking, and vacationing, or you need more room for car seats and school projects, the massive interior of the Traverse, combined with the easily configurable seats, has been attractive to parents since the vehicle’s debut. With more safety and driver assistance features than ever, along with optional all-wheel drive, the 2024 Chevy Traverse offers drivers more peace of mind behind the wheel than ever before.
