The 2025 Trailblazer has a higher starting price of $23,100 and offers a second powertrain option, making the SUV more responsive than its sibling. The standard 1.2L EcoTec turbocharged inline-three produces 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, but the Trailblazer’s beefier 1.3L inline-three delivers 155 horses and 174 lb-ft of torque for more responsiveness. The Trailblazer also provides all-season confidence with optional all-wheel drive and rolls off Chevrolet’s production line with a larger digital landscape, thanks to its standard 11-inch center touchscreen. 

Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain: Compact Siblings 

GMC’s SUV lineup starts with the Terrain, which shares many similarities with its Chevy sibling—the best-selling Equinox. The Equinox is Chevrolet’s second best-selling model behind the Silverado, garnering widespread acclaim for its engaging performance, value-rich packaging, and diverse trim lineup. The 2025 Equinox lives up to those expectations, with a three-trim lineup that stretches from the entry-level LT at $28,600 to the mid-tier RS and rugged ACTIV. The Equinox and Terrain share the same turbocharged 1.5L inline-four that makes 175 hp. However, the Equinox offers a broader range of torque thanks to two transmission options. The standard continuously variable transmission yields a lower output of 184 lb-ft, while the smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic pushes that output to 203 lb-ft. GMC only offers the Terrain Elevation with the eight-speed automatic. 

As compact SUVs, the Equinox and Terrain offer comparable capacities, with their two-row designs providing ample room for passengers and cargo. The 2025 Terrain offers more opulence, a characteristic ingrained in the GMC brand, with its expansive digital landscape and premium interior design elements. For example, the 2025 Equinox has an 11.3-inch center touchscreen that’s easily outshined by the Terrain’s 15-inch center display. Chevy Equinox EV: Affordable Electrification

Chevrolet gives the Equinox an advantage over its GMC sibling by electrifying its heartbeat. The 2025 Equinox EV takes the Equinox’s best-selling features and adds an 85 kWh battery with a single-motor or dual-motor electric powertrain. Depending on the configuration, the Equinox EV produces up to 300 hp and 355 lb-ft of instant torque for an impressive experience behind the wheel. With a 17.7-inch center touchscreen, a 319-mile driving range, and a starting price of $33,600, the 2025 Equinox EV earns its place in the spotlight as a segment leader.

Chevy Blazer and Blazer EV: Midsize Marvels

The Blazer is the only midsize SUV in either lineup, and Chevrolet heightens its appeal by offering it with a potent gas engine or an all-electric heartbeat. The gas-powered Blazer starts at $35,600 in 2025 and boasts a two-engine lineup, beginning with the 2.0L turbocharged inline-four that makes 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 2025 Blazer EV fulfills its promise of exceptional performance by offering drivers a choice of batteries and motor configurations, with an 85 kWh or 102 kWh battery with front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive options. The Blazer EV SS provides the most excitement, courtesy of a 102 kWh battery and dual motors that make 615 horses and 650 lb-ft of instant torque. Of course, those looking for something more modest will thoroughly enjoy the three other available powertrain configurations. 

Beyond its on-demand power delivery, the 2025 Blazer EV also outshines its gas-powered rival in terms of features. The 2025 Blazer has a 10.2-inch center touchscreen, but the 2025 Blazer EV is far more tech-savvy with its 17.7-inch display. However, the Blazer EV’s aerodynamic design compromises its cabin dimensions, making the Blazer slightly more spacious with a total cargo capacity of 64.2 cu.ft. compared to the Blazer EV’s total volume of 59.1 cu.ft.

Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia: Three Rows of Value 

Climbing the respective lineups, Chevrolet and GMC offer two exceptional options for drivers who need the spaciousness of a three-row SUV. The 2025 Chevy Traverse and 2025 GMC Acadia are sibling models, with the Chevrolet being more affordable at $40,700 and the more luxurious Acadia starting at $42,900. As expected, the SUVs share many similarities, from their powertrains to their capacities. 

The Traverse and Acadia don’t handle like most three-row SUVs, thanks to a 2.5L turbocharged inline-four under their hoods. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, this engine produces 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque for a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 MPG combined on front-wheel drive models. So, how do the models differ? 

The 2025 Traverse gains an advantage over its GMC sibling because of its larger, 17.7-inch center touchscreen compared to the Acadia’s 15-inch display. The Traverse also has a more diverse trim lineup that includes the LT, Z71, High Country, RS, and packages like the Midnight Edition and Sport Edition. Alternatively, the Acadia’s three-trim family consists of the more exclusive Elevation, AT4, and Denali. 

GMC Hummer EV SUV: An Icon Electrified

The Hummer made waves decades ago for its iconic design, rugged capability, and gas-guzzling tendencies. Fortunately, the Hummer EV SUV offers a solution to that last point, with an electric powertrain that introduces the newest chapter for GMC’s former legend. The 2025 Hummer EV SUV starts at $96,550 and is, without a doubt, a premium SUV that packs a hefty punch. The full-size model offers dual-motor and tri-motor configurations. The dual motor setup delivers 570 hp and 7,400 lb-ft of torque (no, that isn’t a typo). Alternatively, the tri-motor makes 830 horses and 11,500 lb-ft of instant torque with a 312-mile driving range. 

GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe, and Chevy Suburban: Full-Size and Feature-Rich 

The GMC Yukon and the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban complete the SUV family as full-size road warriors, offering impressive agility, spacious cabins, and a long list of features. As expected from sibling models, the Yukon, Tahoe, and Suburban share the same three-engine lineup in 2025, which includes a pair of V8s and a 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel. The engines offer a broad range of performance, delivering up to 420 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. 

As GMC’s largest SUV, the 2025 Yukon is the most expensive and starts at $66,900. GMC debuted the third generation of Acadia with the 2024 model year, which means a lot of the newness carries over into the 2025 model year. While the Acadia has provided three rows of seating in the past, it has historically been a 7-person vehicle. The 2025 Acadia Elevation will include standard second and third-row bench seats. For those drivers who don't need the additional seat space, selecting the new-for-2025 Elevation Premium Package will restore the familiar 7-passenger configuration with second-row captain's seats, including Smart Slide fold-flat technology, along with the standard manual-folding 60-40 split-bench seat. The Elevation Premium Package also adds a few helpful tech features, like easy-care CoreTec seating, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a power-adjustable passenger seat with lumbar support. Flexible Capability and Performance The 2025 GMC Acadia is not simply a "people-hauler."  While it can provide comfortable seating for up to eight passengers, that space can also be configured for other types of precious cargo. With all seats occupied, the Acadia still has room for 23 cu.ft. of belongings behind the third row. With the third row stashed, that space grows to 57.3 cu.ft., and with only the front seats occupied, Acadia drivers can enjoy up to 97.5 cu.ft. of room for items of all sorts of shapes and sizes. If the interior of the 2025 Acadia is too confining for you, models equipped with the Trailering Package can capably tow loads up to 5,000 lbs. All-wheel drive is an option for all but the AT4 model, which comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.
