A red 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X is off-roading on a rocky trail.

Full-size pickups represent a unique corner of the automotive market. While most drivers are open to exploring different makes and models, pickup drivers tend to be particularly loyal to a specific brand. It can be tough to pry a pickup owner away from their preferred truck, but every now and then there comes a model that makes a compelling case for jumping ship and embracing a new badge. With a persuasive mix of advanced tech, diesel power, and two dedicated off-road trims that are primed for the backroads of Tishomingo County, the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 is just such a truck.

If you’re on the hunt for a GMC Sierra for sale near Iuka, you’ve come to the right place. Crossroads Chevrolet GMC offers a wide selection of Sierra pickups, including all eight trims of the new 2025 model. The Sierra’s reputation largely precedes it, but we’re happy to make the case for GMC’s best-selling pickup. Let’s review some of the highlights of the 2025 model and learn how the full-size truck is winning over new drivers by staying well ahead of the curve.

Off-Road Ready Trims

The Sierra’s AT4 and AT4X trims leave little doubt about the truck’s off-road bonafides. Introduced between 2019 and 2022, these two trims turn the already-capable Sierra into a true off-road machine with the addition of some stout hardware and a refreshed, adventure-ready design. The AT4 represents a massive upgrade over the SLT trim on which it’s based thanks to a two-speed Autotrac transfer case, a robust off-road suspension complete with Rancho monotube shocks, and a two-inch factory lift that’ll provide drivers with plenty of ground clearance. To provide additional protection for vital underbody components as you navigate the obstacles that litter local off-road destinations, the AT4 also comes standard with underbody skid plates, not to mention high-clearance steps that allow drivers to easily enter and exit the cabin without risking a dent or scrape.

The AT4’s 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel and 10-speed automatic transmission deliver plenty of power and all the low-end torque you’ll need to conquer even the most challenging terrain. Drivers can also upgrade to the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8, which tops the rest of the 2025 trim ladder with 420 hp on tap. The off-road trim also injects a bit of style and luxury into the equation thanks to a unique Jet Black interior with Kalahari accents and heated and ventilated front seats that’ll have you riding in comfort no matter how hairy things might get outside the cab.

Those looking to really max out the Sierra’s off-road resume should look into the AT4X trim. A true off-road all-star, the AT4X holds the distinction of being one of the only pickups in its class to offer both front and rear electronic locking differentials. It’s a solid start for any off-road rig, and it only gets better when you factor in the advanced Multimatic spool-valve dampers, all-terrain tires, and factory suspension lift. That would be a pretty solid package for any pickup, but GMC has once again gone above and beyond, teaming up with the off-road experts at American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) to grace the Sierra with a full arsenal of trail-tested components. From stamped boron steel skid plates and steel rock sliders to a stamped boron front bumper designed to accommodate a winch, the AT4X AEV Edition might just be one of the most ready-made off-road trucks on the market today.

A Variety of Useful Tech for Every Driver

The 2025 Sierra isn’t just one of the most rugged pickups in the full-size segment, it also happens to be one of the most technologically advanced. Most of the 2025 trims are treated to a 13.4-inch touchscreen display that serves as the control center for all of the truck’s entertainment, information, and convenience features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, allowing drivers to interact with most of their smartphone’s apps and functions without risking dangerous distractions, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg regarding the truck’s high-tech arsenal.

The 2025 model is also packed with Google built-in software with a voice assistant feature that opens the door to hands-free navigation, climate controls, and all the apps you could ask for, while an optional wireless phone charger and additional USB ports ensure you’ll never be left with a low battery. Every trim except the base Pro model comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that can be customized to display a wide range of relevant driving metrics and safety-related information.

Speaking of safety, the Sierra is loaded with a generous suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) ranging from the expected—Forward Collision Alert, a Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Lane Departure Warning—to premium features like IntelliBeam automatic high beam headlights and GM’s Super Cruise hands-free-driving tech. Available for use on over 750,000 miles of compatible roads across the U.S. and Canada, SuperCruise is easily one of the industry’s most advanced and comprehensive hands-free offerings.

The Sierra’s tech-forward reputation extends all the way to the tailgate, where drivers will find GMC’s innovative MultiPro tailgate. With the ability to shift between six distinct functions, the tailgate can be customized to provide a little extra length, act as a load stop, or even transform into a mobile work surface that’s ideal for reviewing blueprints, catching on some emails, or enjoying a quick lunch while taking in the sights.

This functionality is sure to come in handy for trade pros and other drivers who rely on their Sierra day in and day out, but the pickup also knows how to party with the addition of the optional Kicker Sound System. Built right into the tailgate itself, this 100-watt stereo speaker system comes complete with tow four-inch coaxial drivers, an amplifier and multiple input options include a USB port, 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth connectivity. Perfect for unwinding after a long day on the job or blasting your favorite tunes, the Kicker Sound System allows drivers to cut loose no matter where the road might take them.

Best-In-Class Diesel Towing

While off-road trims, cutting-edge audio systems and advanced driver-assistance features have become increasingly important selling points, towing and payload capacity remain the bread and butter of the full-size pickup segment. GMC has certainly stayed on top of emerging trends to craft a modern pickup that meets the diverse needs of today’s drivers, but it’s never treated the Sierra’s hardworking reputation as an afterthought.

This level of commitment is exemplified in the 2025 model, especially when opting for some of the available engine configurations. The Sierra’s 3.0-liter turbo-diesel is the star of the show when it comes to towing capacity, offering drivers up to 13,200 lbs of pure towing power when paired with the Double Cab, Standard Bed, and rear-wheel drive. Upgrading to four-wheel drive sees that number slightly reduced to 13,000, which still leads the full-size segment in terms of 4WD diesel towing capacity.

While the powerful diesel engine certainly plays its part, the 2025 Sierra’s optional Max Trailering Package deserves a lot of credit for the truck’s remarkable towing capacity. This comprehensive package adds a host of heavy-duty equipment to the mix, rounding out the Sierra’s impressive slate of work-ready features with a 3.73 rear axle ratio (or 3.42 on the gas engine), an automatic locking rear differential, enhanced cooling radiator and shock tuning, and a new set of robust rear springs that significantly increase the truck’s increased Rear Gross Axle Weight Rating (RGAWR).

The Max Trailering Package also includes everything you’ll find in the standard Trailering Package, Handling/Trailering Suspension Package, and a trailer brake controller that’ll help you keep all 13,000-plus lbs of cargo in check. One of the Max Trailering Package’s most underrated features might be the 220-amp alternator. While most trucks can get away with an alternator that produces between 130 and 150 amps, that sort of power simply won’t suffice for a jobsite MVP like the Sierra 1500. A larger alternator is better able to maintain a fully charged battery when towing, which can put a lot of strain on a truck’s electrical system due to the extra juice required by the trailer’s brakes and lights.

Choosing one of the Sierra’s gas-powered engines doesn’t mean sacrificing significant towing capacity with the 6.2-liter V8 offering up to 13,000 lbs when properly equipped and the 5.3-liter version maxing out at 11,200 lbs, which should be more than enough power to get your boat up to the lake for a day of fishing. Add in a max payload capacity of 2,240 lbs, and it’s hard to argue against the 2025 Sierra 1500 from a pure performance perspective.

The Sierra’s off-road trims, advanced tech, and ultra-competitive towing and payload capacity aren’t the only highlights of the 2025 model. The new Sierra also takes a page from the world of supercars with an exclusive carbon-fiber bed that is said to be both lighter and stronger than the typical steel beds that populate much of the rest of the full-size segment. Weighing 60 lbs lighter than Sierra’s standard steel bed, the optional CarbonPro bed ups the truck’s payload capacity while protecting the pickup from dings and depressions and providing an extra cubic foot of cargo space.

The truck makes towing large, bulky loads a breeze with a multi-camera system that allows drivers to essentially see right through their trailer to spot any trailing traffic, while Terrain mode enables low-speed, one-pedal driving that’ll prove its worth when you’re navigating tricky off-road terrain.
