In American automotive history, there are a few brands that have been around since the beginning, including Chevrolet and GMC, both of which were founded over a century ago. What you may—or may not know—is that these brands share more than just when they were established. They’re both part of the General Motors lineup of manufacturers. Additionally, many of their vehicles share the same platform, such as the Chevy Equinox and the GMC Terrain, the Blazer and the Acadia, and the Chevy Tahoe and the GMC Yukon. Each of these vehicles is a household name, and while they share the same platform, they each hold their own in their respective SUV class.

Our team at Crossroads Chevrolet GMC is proud to support both brands and ensure our customers find the right SUV for their needs. If you’re looking for a Booneville GM dealership, we’re here for you; we strive to go above and beyond when it comes to communication, follow-through, and ongoing support, ensuring you get the best possible care. You can view our inventory of Chevy and GMC SUVs online or stop by our dealership for a test drive. Either way, we’re excited to show you everything these vehicles have to offer. For now, keep reading to learn more about these impressive SUVs.

Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain

The Equinox and the Terrain are both compact SUVs. This category of SUVs is popular with a wide range of drivers as it delivers some of the best things the segment offers, including flexible cargo space and an elevated driving position, while their compact size makes them ideal for navigating smaller spaces. Since the Equinox and Terrain are built on the same platform, they have similar dimensions. Additionally, they share the same powertrain, which is a 1.5L four-cylinder that delivers up to 175 hp. Another similarity is that you can choose whether you want a front- or all-wheel drive. Each SUV also provides you with a long list of connectivity and safety features, as well as a comfortable drive and responsive handling.

However, there are differences between the two, which are evident at first glance. For the GMC Terrain, the styling is more rugged, with a squared-off design that is “truck-like” in its appearance. The Chevy Equinox, on the other hand, offers a more sleek and aerodynamic exterior. Obviously, there is also different badging, ensuring it is easy to tell the difference between the two rather quickly. It’s also important to note that both of these SUVs received a makeover for the 2025 model year, which means you will get the latest features when choosing a brand-new model. Additionally, when looking at our new inventory, you will note that while the Equinox is offered in three trim levels, there is only one trim option when choosing the Terrain.

On the inside, other than the badging and specific trim designs the Equinox offers, the two are quite similar. They both offer supportive seating and ample head and legroom, as well as the ability to connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via their infotainment systems. For the Terrain, that system offers a 15-inch diagonal touchscreen, while the Equinox sports an 11.3-inch screen that is angled toward the driver, as well as an 11-inch digital gauge cluster that can be customized to match your preferences.

Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia

Like the Equinox and the Terrain, the Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia also share the same platform. Additionally, they both offer three rows despite being considered midsize SUVs, which means you get more space for cargo or passengers when choosing one of these vehicles. Another interesting piece of information is that the Traverse and Acadia not only share the same platform, making them roughly the same dimensions, but they also share the same doors. The reasoning behind this is that it streamlines the design process and makes the vehicles more efficient to produce, which makes them more affordable for you.

The GMC Acadia gives you the choice between three trims, which couldn’t be more different if they tried. The Elevation trim is the base option, providing you with the typical features you might expect, including a seamless connection to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, ample space for seven to eight passengers, convenient cargo space, and some of the latest safety features in the industry. The AT4, on the other hand, has standard all-wheel drive and is designed with off-roading in mind, with GMC’s Active Torque Control, higher ground clearance, and a specialized suspension system. Regarding the Denali trim, you will find that it offers the most luxury of the three, with things like exclusive interior materials and accents, heated and ventilated front seats, and more.

When looking at the Chevy Traverse, you will also find trim levels that stand apart from each other. For instance, the top-tiered RS offers a sporty vibe, with unique RS badging, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and red accents on the interior. It also has jet-black leather-appointed seats and blackout exterior features, such as its grille and roof rails. Sitting just below the RS trim is the High Country option. This SUV has a list of amenities that just keeps going, including its own unique badging and an available enhanced driving package that includes Super Cruise driver assistance technology.

There is also a Z71 option when looking at the Traverse, giving you the confidence you need to tackle any terrain that comes your way. It’s also worth mentioning that while the dimensions are similar to the GMC Acadia, the Traverse takes the win when it comes to cargo volume, earning a best-in-class distinction for its 98 cu.ft. of space. Last but not least is the base-level LT, which gives you plenty of features to take advantage of, including wireless charging, a power rear liftgate, and more.

Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon

In the full-size SUV category, you will find that the Tahoe and Yukon provide you with many of the latest features, a smooth ride, and impressive towing capabilities. These two SUVs are built for families on the go, ensuring there is a space for everything and everyone. Like the SUVs already mentioned, these two also share powertrains, including both gas-powered and diesel options for you to consider. Those options include a 5.3L V8, a 6.2L V8, or a 3.0L diesel inline-six. It’s also important to note that rear-wheel drive is standard on these SUVs, while four-wheel drive is optional. Of course, if you choose the Chevy Tahoe Z71, it offers an off-road-focused design that is ready to take on whatever is in its way. The Yukon also provides you with an off-road-ready choice in the AT4.

Also, like the SUVs mentioned above, you will notice differences in both the exterior and interior styling of these SUVs. For the Yukon, it boasts features such as the available 16.8-inch Premium GMC Infotainment System with Google built-in compatibility and available night vision, while the Tahoe sports standard and available features like the 17.7-inch diagonal center touchscreen, an AutoSense Power Liftgate, and a class-leading 15-inch diagonal Head-Up display. Both vehicles also provide you with the opportunity to take trailering to the next level with innovative technology and towing capacity, each offering a maximum of 8,400 lbs when appropriately equipped.
