When it comes to picking out a new midsize SUV, there are plenty of options available. But of all the cars for sale today, we think there’s something really special about the GMC Acadia. Actually, there are quite a few “special somethings” about the 2025 Acadia. Despite receiving a full revision for 2024 to mark the start of the third generation of Acadia, GMC saved a few updates for the 2025 model year as well.

Together with the changes made in the previous year, the Acadia offers a comprehensive package that makes it an ideal new car for many drivers. With plenty of power and a cabin size that works for a lot of different cargo and crew situations, the Acadia has a lot to offer a wide variety of drivers. Take a look at how the 2025 GMC Acadia combines flexibility, capability, technology, and comfort to create an impressive SUV.

What’s New on the 2025 GMC Acadia?

GMC debuted the third generation of Acadia with the 2024 model year, which means a lot of the newness carries over into the 2025 model year. For example, GMC made the 2024 Acadia larger and more powerful than before. Increasing the cabin size allows for more options this year, including an 8-passenger configuration for the Elevation trim. While the Acadia has provided three rows of seating in the past, it has historically been a 7-person vehicle. The 2025 Acadia Elevation will include standard second and third-row bench seats.

For those drivers who don’t need the additional seat space, selecting the new-for-2025 Elevation Premium Package will restore the familiar 7-passenger configuration with second-row captain’s seats, including Smart Slide fold-flat technology, along with the standard manual-folding 60-40 split-bench seat. The Elevation Premium Package also adds a few helpful tech features, like easy-care CoreTec seating, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a power-adjustable passenger seat with lumbar support.

Flexible Capability and Performance

The 2025 GMC Acadia is not simply a “people-hauler.”  While it can provide comfortable seating for up to eight passengers, that space can also be configured for other types of precious cargo. With all seats occupied, the Acadia still has room for 23 cu.ft. of belongings behind the third row. With the third row stashed, that space grows to 57.3 cu.ft., and with only the front seats occupied, Acadia drivers can enjoy up to 97.5 cu.ft. of room for items of all sorts of shapes and sizes. If the interior of the 2025 Acadia is too confining for you, models equipped with the Trailering Package can capably tow loads up to 5,000 lbs.

The GMC Acadia AT4 also extends the meaning of the word “capable.”  This trim is equipped with plenty of off-roading tech, making it perfectly comfortable on or off the pavement. Extra features include an all-wheel drive system with Active Torque Control and a specially tuned off-roading suspension system. AT4 models also have a Terrain drive mode, which joins the Normal, Sport, Snow, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul modes that come standard across the lineup.

As part of the 2024 refresh, all Acadia models gained a 2.5L turbocharged engine. This continues for the 2025 model year. Good for 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque, this engine provides plenty of power, whether you’re commuting through the city streets, accelerating to merge on the freeway, or navigating mud puddles on the way to your favorite camping site. All-wheel drive is an option for all but the AT4 model, which comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.

Technology to Keep You Safe on the Road

It seems that each year, today’s cars get more and more tech features. GMC has definitely placed cutting-edge technology in each and every 2025 Acadia model, but while other manufacturers try to outdo each other with features many drivers might find unnecessary, this is one SUV that has a just-right amount of standard tech. First, there are the standard safety and driver assistance technologies. All models include some pretty impressive accident mitigation tech, such as Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking with Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, an HD Rear Vision Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Blind Zone Steering Assist.

Super Cruise’s hands-free driving technology is also available on all trims. 2025 Acadia models equipped with this feature include hands-free operation while trailering, as well as Lane Change on Demand and Automatic Lane Change when not pulling a load. The 2025 Acadia can also be equipped with up to nine exterior camera views. In addition to standard front and rear views, drivers may also include overhead, side, top-down, and hitch views, along with a rear camera mirror option. Standard on the top Denali trim but also available on the rest of the Acadia lineup, a configurable 8-inch Head-Up Display can help drivers stay attentive during heavy traffic by projecting valuable vehicle information, navigation, and safety alerts directly onto the windshield.

Three Comprehensive Trims and a Variety of Available Features

The 2025 GMC Acadia is offered in three well-considered trims: the Elevation, AT4, and Denali. While the Elevation is technically the entry-level trim for the Acadia, it is hardly basic. All trims include a premium infotainment system that is operated via a massive 15-inch touchscreen. With Google built-in, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility, you’ll have access to your phone, navigation, music, apps, and more while you’re behind the wheel. Voice-activated technology makes it even easier to stay connected without taking your eyes off the road.

In addition to the standard Head-Up Display, the Denali trim also includes a long list of creature comforts. From power-adjustable front seats with a range of lumbar settings to heated seats in the front and rear outboard positions, coziness is in style in the Acadia Denali. Premium carpet flooring, perforated leather seating, and a power-folding third-row seat make the Denali all the easier to enjoy.

Of course, if you’re still looking for a little more from your SUV, consider the Denali Reserve Package, which adds a panoramic power sunroof, performance-tuned suspension, 22-inch wheels, and a Bose Performance 16-speaker audio system. In fact, each trim is offered with a variety of optional packages that can help the Acadia be everything you need it to be. From heated windshield wiper blade wells to roof rails, GMC has introduced even more options to help you find the features you need to hit the road.

Who Should Consider the 2025 GMC Acadia?

While it’s impossible for one vehicle to be perfect for every single driver, the 2025 GMC Acadia comes very close. It offers two different seating configurations that allow you to include up to seven of your favorite passengers on your next trip. The Acadia also allows you to make it a solo trip with a whole lot of cargo. It comes in a range of three trims that range from the well-equipped Elevation, the off-road-tuned AT4, and the luxurious Denali, each with plenty of power and capability for a variety of adventures. Furthermore, drivers can find a model that matches their personality and lifestyle through the selection of trims and optional packages.

If you’re the type of driver who values interior space and exceptional driving manners, you might want to consider the 2025 Acadia. The same is true for drivers who want the latest and greatest safety technology, or who crave a cabin that’s compatible with all of their complicated connectivity needs. Whether you want to stay on the pavement or see how muddy you can get, the 2025 GMC Acadia is prepared, and that’s why we think it’s a great choice for so many drivers today.
